Shawn Logan shows

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Shawn Logan has over 40 years of experience in the entertainment business. His activity begins at a young age as a soloist in the Springfield Baptist Church of Evanston, Illinois. While attending Evanston Township High School He studied African rhythms and early African American culture in the “Living Classroom” for four years under the mentorship and teachings of Dr. Avon Gillespie.

After attending Rice University in Houston, Texas Shawn returned to Chicago and shortly thereafter relocated to Italy. Where he would live for 24 years.

Initially working for recreational services for the US Navy on the island of Sicily, where he coordinated USO programs, managed the base theater, and performed duties as a teen counselor, Mr. Logan would turn his focus to the local community.

He would acquire experience creating ads and jingles for local business. Working with local bands he would eventually focus on theater and would be seen in various local and national tour productions. Since then, he has performed in television, theaters, concert halls and cathedrals in Europe.

His early roles in theatre include Chino in “West Side Story” Gus Giordano, Choreographer: the role of James Cherry in “The Disintegration of James Cherry”; Rice Theatre Ensemble. In Europe he performed the role of Dr. John Prentice in “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” (Italian translation), as well as many other theatre productions. He produced and arranged music together with Charlie Cannon and Davide Pistoni for the High Spirits Gospel Group, touring Italy, France and Switzerland, performing nearly 200 concerts, as well as, appearing in various European Music and Theatre Festivals. In the year 2000 in conjunction with the Millenium Celebration held by the Vatican, the Chicago High Spirits directed by Mr. Logan were the featured group for the “Concerto Ad Honorem” held in Rome, as well as the concert honoring the Armed Services held in the Vatican’s Sala Nervi

Mr Logan is featured as the lead singer of the rock blues group the Blue Messengers which produced two CD’s: Blues Messengers (1998) and Blues to Gray(2000). Mr. Logan is also featured vocalist on the Tribal Tech Project “ I’m Coming Home”  He was also the lead singer for the Jona’s Blues Band. While in Italy he collaborated with directors, musicians and artists such Amii Stewart, Cheryl Nickerson, Daniele Vit, Dario Deidda, Ennio Morricone, Enrico Solazzo, Eric Daniel, Frank Minnoia, Gianni Savelli, Harold Bradley, Joseph Lepore, Joy Garrison, Rosario Giugliani, Luca Casagande, Luca Trolli, Mario Martone, Mark Hanna, Lucio Dalla, Orlando Johnson, Paolo Emilio Landi, Pasquale Scialo`, Pippo Mattino, Roberto De Simone, Stefano Sabatini, Tim Fritz, Tony Cucchiara, Zucchero to name a few.

He is the creator-composer of the dance opera, Talk about a Child, based on the evolution of gospel music in the United States and its influence upon the American and world cultures.

Returning with his wife and daughter to the US in 2000 -2001 Mr. Logan moved to Columbia, South Carolina and became an active member of the SC Shakespearean Company with whom he has performed in Julius Caesar (Julius Caesar), Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet (Friar), The Man of La Mancha. He also appeared in the Columbia Workshop Theater productions of Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues, Caroline or Change and The Color Purple (Mister).

He has written original music for the Carolina Ballet of Columbia, SC.

While in South Carolina Mr. Logan was the co-producer of the cable program “He Set Me Free”, a program featuring Southern, Urban, Contemporary Christian and gospel music. Mr. Logan was also the co-producer of the internet based program “Live From the Shed” on the Christian Bikers Network.

In 2016 Mr. Logan began working as a personality on a Chicago based internet radio station. In 2017 he made the decision to relocate back to Chicago to pursue and expand his experience in entertainment. Recently Mr. Logan has been seen as actor in several Theater 47 productions directed by John L. Ruffin, including “Nativity”, “Imitation of Life”, “Takin’ Back My Name – the Ike and Tina Turner Musical”, “Living All Alone – the Phyllis Hyman Musical” and the award winning “Lady Sings the Blues – The Billie Holiday Story”. Mr. Logan will be continuing to work in the upcoming productions of Theater 47.

Owner and CEO of High In Spirit Music and Video Productions LLC Mr. Logan met Tara Chimyn Harris in 2018 and have collaborated on various projects. Mr. Logan and Ms. Harris saw a need for the south suburban community and along with Ms. Dragoni decided to form the “South Suburban Creatives Hub”.
