Tara “Chyll” Harris * Songwriter, Music Producer, Sound/Mix Engineer & Graphics Designer. I have more than 30 years invested in the music industry. My resume includes Management and A&R work with Independent and Major Label artists.

It started in 1986, listening to 2 Live Crew dissing women ignited a firestorm inside of Tara Chimyn Harris giving her the necessary tools to start her quest as a female rap artist. Making her rounds and a name for herself on the streets of Chicago, she soon hooked up with Chitown producer Soundmaster T of “Too Much Booty In The Pants” fame becoming “Chyll” the baddest female rapper from the Chi. Competing in talent shows and doing shows around the Chi, Chyll soon found herself on the radio battle rapping for a spot at Death Row’s Private Party with DJ Kevin Black in which she won the contest and was given the opportunity to audition for Death Row Records. The private party audition proved beneficial but due to the rising conflicts that were going on at Death Row, Chyll decided to pass on the further opportunity. Realizing that there was so much more to the game of rap, in 1996 Chyll became one half of the rap duo MADD FUZION, taking on a protégé and partner in rhyme named “Lexus”. A few years passed and MADD FUZION decided to head to Atlanta GA where upon arrival they were welcomed with open arms. MADD FUZION’s resume includes Too Short, The Dungeon Family, AMG, So So Def Records, Def Jam South, Ant Banks, Morris Day & The Time and a host of other label projects and major events. As time passed, Chyll soon felt the burn of being female in a male dominated industry and getting older so she decided to focus her energies on new younger talent and taking on management responsibilities as well as songwriting for other artists.

In 2005-2006, Tara “Chyll” Harris represented an highly sought after artist by the name of “Jackilyn” who had the debut single “Raised Better” which charted overseas peaking at the #2 spot on International Club charts and good rotation in the U.S. “Jackilyn” was also chosen as a finalist in the 05′ BMI Urban Nights Unsigned Artist contest in which Tara had the pleasure of showcasing her songwriter skills along with Jackilyn. This venture proved worthy and gave the pleasure of working with & mentored by the late Gene Griffin of the New Jack Swing Era. Her path also crossed with famed notables on behalf of artist “Jackilyn”, Bad Boy South, Jazze Pha, Duane Covert, Jive Records, Kawan “KP” Prather, Bryan Michael Cox, Don Vito, Archie and a host of others.

In 2011, Tara decided to attend Full Sail University to upgrade and sharpen her skills by enrolling in the Music Production Bachelors of Science program. According to Tara, “Full Sail is the greatest thing I could have ever done!” Now armed with a Bachelor of Science in Music Production and a Master’s in Entertainment Business, Tara is ready for the industry once again with even more knowledge than before and prepared for whatever is thrown her way.

To date, a Marketing/Graphic Design guru and serial entreprenuer, Tara Chyll Harris is also known as DJ She’z Dope and owner/partner of South Suburban Creatives Hub along with Shawn Logan and Anna Dragoni in South Holland, Il. She also owns Chosen Prophetic a faith-based urbanwear company and Black Pop Pop Pop Up Shop which specializes in helping small black businesses showcase their products to the world and their community.
